Today is the first day of summer for us Ocean City locals as the tourons have flocked back to their homes. It will be safe to walk the boardwalk once again, even at night. Local businesses, (for the most part) will continue to enjoy J-1’s till the end of the month. Local restaurants will start running their specials and hopefully those $14.00 drinks and $9.00 beers will come down in price. Designated drivers are highly recommended as law enforcement is just about everywhere you turn.
As for the Salisbury area, the Mayor and Law Enforcement better get a handle on the dirt bike and four wheeler situation. Images of these gangs of illegal riders keep popping up everywhere and NOTHING is being done about it. This proves that Salisbury leaders and law enforcement have ZERO control of that city/town and have failed miserably.
God Forbid you have one of the two tag lights out in Ocean City, you are getting pulled, period. But it’s OK to have no insurance, no license, no helmet, no registration and so on and ride illegally in Salisbury.
While all of you may see hundreds of comments on this Salisbury problem, nothing ever gets done about it. I’d love to see those hundreds of people picketing the Salisbury Police Department and actually fight back instead of anonymously commenting on a Blog. Start growing a pair people and make those of whom you actually elected clean up your city/town.
On a final note in Wicomico County, county officials have in fact started to enforce the demolition orders in Powellville and buildings are actually starting to come down and bids from companies are starting to come in. See, if you stand together as a community you can actually get things done.
While short, enjoy the rest of your/our summer and support your local businesses. Pizza Tugos has live entertainment on Wednesday is (Karaoke night), Friday and Saturday nights all year round. All other nights they have $1.00 per slice pizza after 10:00 pm.
Thanks Joe for the local updates and in 100% agreement that although OUR season has begun, our LEOs here on the island are still on monkey tilt. Lots of weekend events from now until the end of Oct and they don’t want to get caught with lack of help like in prior years. Lessons learned and absolutely get a designated driver and FIX those tail and license plate lights. Got pulled over in the north end, had one light out on my license plate. Went to ACE next morning, got a replacement bulb – done done. Picky? Maybe, but I had a burnt out light and by law its needed.

Year over price increases for food averaged about 50% for the season ending so it will be interesting to see if the NEW 1/2 off prices can draw people as the cold air moves in.
