EBT Down Nationwide, People Furious as Welfare Cards Stop Working

A major outage with the United States’ Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is reportedly affecting Americans across the country.

According to Down Detector, SNAP users began reporting outages around 8:30 a.m. pacific time on Sunday morning. By noon, nearly 5,000 users had reported outages around the country.

SNAP is a program that helps supplement the food budget of low-income Americans, WWBT reported.

While the program previously used food stamps as the primary way for Americans to pay for their food, it has since switched to a system called Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT).

The EBT works in a manner “similar to a debit card that allows a SNAP participant to pay for food using SNAP benefits,” WWBT reported. However, the EBT suffered major outages Sunday, leaving some Americans unable to pay for food.

    1. I guess the ones receiving help previously are to the end of the line now . Due to Joe Biden’s preference for immigrants that come through the border. The rest are tossed aside he is as sincere in his promises as any snake oil salesman.

  1. Well Americans that are not on welfare are having problems paying for food so it seems fair to me that the free loading useless eaters (not all of them some people do need it) are having the same problems.

  2. SNAP is meant to help low income AMERICANS???? BS!!!!!!! I am never in as grocery store that I don;t have foreigners (speaking no English) in front of me using those damn cards!!! They have all kinds of goodies and high dollar meats, while I am skimping with my dry beans and hot dogs. The freakin’ system is so broke!
