On Tuesday, President Joe Biden interrupted his summer vacation to return to the White House and celebrate passage of the Inflation Reduction Act – which he hailed as one of the most significant laws in our history.’
After five and a half hours he was on his way again, this time traveling by Marine One to his upscale lakeside home outside Wilmington, Delaware.
Seasoned Biden watchers were not surprised. Just as he did when he was a senator and vice president, the 79-year-old president is proving himself a creature of habit and escaping home to Delaware whenever he can.
Since taking the White House as his official residence, he has still traveled home 49 times – spending 150 full or part days in the state – according to a tally kept by former CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller.
That puts him way ahead of his immediate predecessors, even Donald Trump who was frequently criticized for flying to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida during the winter or his New Jersey golf club in summer.
By Knoller’s count, at this stage in his presidency, Trump had made 17 visits to Mar-a-Lago and 13 to Bedminster in New Jersey, accounting for some 132 days.
Barack Obama had made eight vacation trips including Hawaii and Martha’s Vineyard, at a count of 38 days.
So true worst president ever ask yourself why when he was running did he spend 4 mos in basement but still won?
