Over the past several years, the left has aggressively infected the minds of the youngest children with the tenets of critical race theory (CRT) and gender ideology, while academic excellence has been shoved to the back of the bus. As a result, public schools are hemorrhaging students.
In my home state of Minnesota, 2022 “marks the second consecutive year the state’s public school system has lost thousands of students,” the Center of the American Experiment, a Minnesota think tank, reported in February. Why should parents in Minnesota or any other state keep their children in public schools?
In 2021, the Minnesota Department of Education’s statewide test results showed another drop in the number of students meeting or exceeding grade-level criteria. Overall, reading scores fell 7 percent, math scores dropped 11 percent, and science scores shrank 8 percent.
In another example, New York City public schools — which compose the nation’s largest school district — have already lost about 50,000 students over the past two years and are expected to lose nearly 30,000 more by the time school begins this fall.
Increasing Spending Without Results
Minnesota Education Commissioner Dr. Heather Mueller explained the poor student achievement outcomes thus: “The statewide assessment results confirm what we already knew — that the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our students’ learning and they need our help to recover.”

While this article certainly has merit, please know that not all teachers are part of this debacle. There are a number of very conservative, Christian, anti CRT teachers who quietly push back on the obvious liberals who (temporarily) are in the majority. I predict that a much more conservative, Republican and Christian majority will emerge in November (Nationally for sure, and very likely statewide) and once they firmly have hold of the legislature (and the purse strings) we will see a significant shift back to a more rational (dare I say ‘normal’) setting.
The lunatic left’s days are numbered – To the school administrators with the WCBOE – I stand by my previous comments regarding staying away form both this issue as well as the LGBQT+ (Jason Miller, are you listening?)
When the political winds shift, you will find yourselves in a very difficult predicament indeed. In fact, I can share (but cannot substantiate right now for obvious reasons), that a small group of Wicomico teachers have elected to heed my previous comments and are in active discussions with the Alliance Defending Freedom. Given what I know, I would not want to be in central office administration or in a HS administration setting.

Look up the ‘six lesson schoolteacher” by a man named John Taylor Gatto. Even if schools were not run by crazies- public schooling was designed to make obedient factory workers out of immigrants. Our public school model is an outdated carbon copy of Prussians schools- the elite liberals at the time wanted conformity of thought, not self reliant thinkers. Yes, even if they were all run by conservatives, public schools still would suck. Homeschool and homeschool now. If you teach, you must quit.
