Solar Panels Suffer Stunning Failure as Weather Becomes ‘Too Hot’ for Them to Handle

Well, it looks like solar panels aren’t going to be saving the planet any time soon.

In fact, some aren’t even able to work efficiently when the sun is too hot, which defeats the purpose of solar energy.

We know this because reports indicate the record heatwave tormenting the United Kingdom has effectively rendered solar panels there useless.

In an article Tuesday headlined “Weather ‘too hot’ for solar panels,” The Telegraph of London reported Tuesday that temperatures of over 104 degrees Fahrenheit — “for the first time ever in Britain” — severely negatively impacted local solar panels’ ability to store energy.

As temperatures rise above 77 F, solar panels become 0.35 percentage points less efficient with each increasing degree Celsius, the report said.

“The efficiency of solar panels is impacted by temperature, with high temperatures above 25 degrees [Celsius] negatively impacting on performance,” Tim Dixon, an analyst at Cornwall Insight, told the outlet. “It is likely that the extreme temperatures have impacted total output levels.”

  1. Hmmmm solar panels stop working because the solar is too hot. Did anyone not think of that?

I saw a video this week from texas that showed a windmill on fire after getting hit by lightning. Did anyone think about that?

Joe had a story this week about a happy young woman, getting an electric used car from her parents (only 60k road miles) but the family was in shock because the battery needed to be replaced and the new one was more than the purchase price of the car. Did anyone think about that?

Where will dead batteries go? Heaven????

Did anyone put any thought to any of this before jammin green down everyones throats?

Oh hell i see 2 black helicopters heading this way. GOTTA GO!

New flash !!!! Solar panels have never had the ability to store energy. Solar panels produce electricty, batteries are where that electrical energy is actually stored. I’m not a solar panel activist or tree hugger, but do want to call out that lie.

  3. I think most agree alternative forms of energy are a good way to SUPLEMENT fossil fuels. There’s no way in hell the worlds entire energy grid can be changed to “Green.” I say the world because until you get countries like China, India, and Russia on board, it doesn’t matter how much we supposedly cut emissions here in the US, it’ll be essentially like not pissing in a swimming pool to keep it clean, while everyone else in the pool let’s it rip. Fossil Fuels are NATURAL forms of energy, harvested from the earth. They’re the most efficient, cost effective way to power our way of life.

  4. Now do the Texas grid failure, when people froze to death because the fossil fuel section gave out in the cold, and far more deaths wpuld have occurred if not for the sustainable energy section which carried the full load for WAY longer than it was supposed to after the fossil fuel bit stopped working.
