Breaking: SCOTUS Sides With Praying Football Coach in Game-Changing Win for Christians

As the Supreme Court has been wrapping up its term, its decision in the case of Kennedy v. Bremerton School District is a landmark in the American principles of religious freedom and free speech.

In a groundbreaking decision on Monday, the court ruled in favor of a former high school football coach who prayed in public after games — and lost his job over it.

The 6-3 decision was unambiguous:

“The Free Exercise and Free Speech Clauses of the First Amendment protect an individual engaging in a personal religious observance from government reprisal,” the ruling stated, “the Constitution neither mandates nor permits the government to suppress such religious expression.”

Justice Gorsuch wrote the opinion and was joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonya Sotomayor and Elena Kagan dissented.

  1. I was born jewish and faced many instances where a coach led Christian prayer with our team, before, during, and after games. It made me feel like I had to choose between my faith and his approval. And that wasn’t just a feeling. He punished non-participants with less playing time, even when they were better athletes. I don’t think this should be allowed in public schools. Private religious schools can do what they want, but public schools should not be able to subject kids to such violations of the 1st Amendment. This is (or at least used to be) America.

    1. 12:16, you are evil. Our founders came here so they wouldn’t be forced to follow the Church of England. Religious freedom for all is the only way to protect your own. Come on! Give me a break!

      1. shame to be an atheist – of course, your morals are much better. We came here not because of church to do real research – came here so England could make more money.

  2. 12:16 – Threaten religious minorities much? Your are selfish and hareful and don’t deserve the privilege of living in this great country.

  3. It’s a time to be very vigilant with all these court proceedings going in the conservative direction kind of makes you wonder what they are up to what are they distracting us from!!
