I need some serious help from my law enforcement and lawyer friends.
My daughter has had numerous ongoing, documented issues with an old suite mate SINCE SEPTEMBER and even had to be moved to another room in the same building for her safety. Her clothes have been stolen or ruined, her iPad was stolen (then returned). After reporting these issues, the RA told Peyton to “re wash her clothes to see if the stains come out.” Then the student assaulted her today (4 hours ago) by the laundry room on campus because she reported her clothes being ruined. On camera. She was punched in the face.
After speaking to campus officers Peyton had to get a peace order from the court house because Salisbury University says they don’t make arrests for crimes committed NOT in their presence, even though it’s on security cameras 
So that student is still on campus. WITH prior assault charges! The officers there are intimidating Pey and making light of a situation that is not being handled properly. Apparently this is only a misdemeanor and they don’t make arrests so now she has to remain at school with this person until a court date! Even though a protective/peace order was granted 
The officers won’t talk to me bc she’s 18 so I call SPD (who was very nice) but can’t help. The lady at the county sheriffs dept basically laughed at me and said I’ll have to do what I need to do….. and we wonder why our community is crying for help?!

That other student doesn’t get removed? My child has to once again look over her shoulder bc SU officers think it’s easier to intimidate than actually do their jobs? Another fun fact is that SU doesn’t have to report crimes on their campus so if it doesn’t come across that scanner, Eastern Shore Undercover doesn’t know about it. And sadly it just adds to how much gets covered up 
If anyone has any suggestions or knows who we can talk to I’d appreciate it. Apparently calling and asking for the SU Lt. Does nothing. He won’t talk to us either. 
So this is just ok? Make it make sense.

She needs to go to the district court commissioner and file a private criminal complaint.

The other comment is correct in reference to the commissioner. I doubt that an arrest warrant will be issued but rather a criminal summons with a court date. You should also ensure that a subpoena is issued for a police representative and an order for the tape to be produced. I would contact the state’s attorney after the criminal summons is issued for assistance.
Your daughter needs to go to the District Court Commissioner’s office and file criminal charges. And later your daughter and any witnesses will have to testify against this person in court. Contact the Student Affairs office to see if Conduct charges have been or can be filed against the suspect. As far as reporting crimes, the college is bound by the Clery Act to report crimes yearly but they are also suppose to post a daily crime report on the Public Safety web site. Unless the media searches for these statistics they are not available to the public.
All SU cares about is MONEY!!!
It’s not just SU.
SU will not prosecute any crime, since they will have to report in on their website under the title for crime statistics and then they will have a drastic reduction of enrolled students. The SU POLICE is pathetic they are sworn POLICE OFFICER and have to obey all laws just like any other POLICE OFFICER. I would get a lawyer an sue the investigating OFFICER and the POLICE CHIEF of the SU POLICE dept. I assume it is still the retired STATE POLICE that does nothing but sit back and attempt to collect another STATE RETIREMENT. They are not upholding the law they swore to uphold. They are as worthless as tits on a bore hog.
If I read it right the SPD stated they cannot do anything. Technically they cannot and neither can the WCSO. The only ones who have jurisdiction over the lazy SU POLICE is the MD STATE POLICE. That is because the SU Campus is considered STATE property. WHETHER the MSP will override the SU PD is another question, but they do have that authority and can override any investigation completed by SU PD and conduct their own including any and all surveillance evidence without warrants.
I know this is correct as a retired STATE EMPLYEE that worked in the criminal justice system and at SU.
had similar incident at private college until I privately told the dean I would kick his ass and put him in the hospital late at night when he walked around the wrong corner. man up instead of crying about how the lazy ass government workers and the bs system dont work! if you are to stupid to protect your family well then what kind of man are you?
