More than 50 days into Vladimir Putin’s brutal invasion, the Ukrainian people’s living nightmare remains as dark as ever.
Almost every evening brings news of more appalling Russian war crimes. Yet as horrific as the war has been, the worst may be yet to come.
In yesterday’s Mail On Sunday, Ukrainian ambassador Vadym Prystaiko paid a heartfelt tribute to readers who have donated to the Mail Force campaign, which is sending half a million food boxes to his beleaguered people.
Yet more is needed, for his country faces one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in modern European history.
As Mr Prystaiko noted, Ukraine has long been renowned as the breadbasket of Europe.
But the Russian invaders have pushed it to the verge of famine, shelling farms, food warehouses, grain silos, shopping centres and supermarkets, and even stealing tractors and combine harvesters and driving them across the border.
In the ambassador’s words, this appears to be a ‘targeted campaign by Putin to try to starve innocent Ukrainian civilians’.
And tragically, it seems to be working.
Already there are reports from eastern Ukraine of people drinking water from radiators and puddles, and even killing and cooking stray dogs to avoid starvation.
And with the Russians planning a new offensive in the coming weeks, such stories are likely to become distressingly common.
As Mr Prystaiko wrote, one of the horrible things about this is that it’s so familiar.
The pages of Ukraine’s history are stained with suffering, but the darkest chapter of all is the story of the early 1930s, when at least four million men, women and children died in a famine directed from Moscow.
What about the killing of ethnic Russians in Ukraine?
There is plenty of evil going around of both sides.
Before the invasion, the government of Ukraine was totally corrupt. NATO is expanding their influence and territory into the former Soviet republics. It would be no different if a foreign country invaded or expanded their influence on our borders. Ukraine as once a part of the former Soviet Union. Was know as little Russia. A lot of lies and misinformation coming out of our no so free press.
Seriously please give this one a rest, Here are the facts one more time 21 million people worldwide are victims of human trafficking, an estimated 50% of these victims are children, 2.2 million children are sold into the sex trade each year, 800,000 children in the US go missing every year. It is time to wake up, Putin is just cleaning the UK out. He has currently rescued 35,000 Children or by now the total has increased. The UK Leader is worth 1.4 Billion and is one of the ones who desperately wanted the New World Order to wipe us out. But just keep on buying this crap the Media is spewing and keep on sending $ that will never get to the people in the UK that you think need it. By the way the Russian troops are feeding and sheltering them, but according to the Media Putin should be removed. The US put the Bio Labs in the UK, ask Biden and Hunter all about it but then you don’t believe anything I tell you so keep on living in your fairytale world, hate to tell you we have all been controlled and lied to about just about everything our entire lives. Personally I just want them to finish cleaning this World up and let the truth flow, and you had better be ready to accept it because you are not going to like what you learn.
Don’t believe me watch all of them for the Symbolism, and then take a ride downtown and look to see what is plastered in the building that used to have the Old Delmarva Power Electric Company Office in it, couldn’t have asked for a better location than across from the Courthouse. Their Symbolism is not just here it is all over this Country and the World and is even on back of our dollar bills. Right now I am to the point where I don’t care who does not like what I write so bring it on and dispute anything I have put, but be sure you have done your research first.
