REPORT: Elaine Chao Meets With Larry Hogan’s Wife As Republicans Try To Convince Maryland Governor To Run For Senate

Elaine Chao, the wife of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, met with the wife of Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan this week as the Republican Party pushes Hogan to run for Senate in the state, The Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Chao, who served as Transportation Secretary under former President Donald Trump, has picked up where McConnell and other high-level Republicans have left off with Hogan. The popular Maryland governor has so far pushed back on the idea of running for Senate, despite multiple calls from McConnell, Florida Sen. Rick Scott and others, according to the AP.

“While I appreciate all the encouragement and outpouring of support in Maryland and across the country, my focus continues to be on leading Maryland through the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing our economic recovery and addressing rising violent crime,” Hogan said Monday to the AP. “As long as I have the honor to serve as governor, I’m going to give this job everything I’ve got.”

  1. He’s a RINO and would end up being another Collins or Murkowski!

His career should be over with!

We want good for the people – not establishment politics!

  2. And there it is….all this work for a senate run. Hmmmm… Larry standing on the Senate corner…as a freshman…working for “marylanders”.

Not feeling it from an eastern shore perspective although being RED, we would have representation and currently we dont.

Hmmmm…may need my bourbon tonite to think about this!

  3. That would be one sure way for Rs to lose that race. Hogan is a joke…the unemployment money that went missing due to fraud and the general mishandling of the program, the questionable practices with the plane load of PCR tests, and so much more!

  4. Maryland’s Democrat senators are two of the worst. Hogan would be the teeniest, tiniest bit better only because he had a very small case ‘r’ behind his name.

Interesting snippet. But if he announced before end of the new legislative session Dems will gut his proposals even more than normal. Guess we’ll see.

  5. It’s called taxation without representation. If your smart your selling packing and voting with your feet. Md is a totally state lost to marxist idealogy

  6. Even if Hogan is a RINO (which he ain’t), if he would help us dump Van Hollen that would be a huge win for Maryland.

Republicans: put aside personal views and work to help Hogan win — he is the only person who can possible beat Van Hollen.

  7. MD Dems and Van Hollen are passing bricks; here’s why:

An internal poll shows Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan with a big lead in a hypothetical 2022 Senate matchup with Democratic incumbent Chris Van Hollen. An internal poll shared with the Daily Caller found that, if he chooses to run for Senate, Hogan would currently lead Van Hollen by a 49%-37% margin. Just under 80% of Black voters approve of Hogan’s job performance, while just over 71% of White voters approve…More than 72% of voters in the Baltimore metropolitan area say they approve of Hogan.

Hogan is out last best choice to dump Van Hollen, so don’t waste it due to right-wing bickering.
