ANOTHER House Democrat is retiring from Congress.
Rep. Alan Lowenthal, a Democrat Rep. in Long Beach, California will not seek reelection in 2022.
80-year-old Lowenthal is the fourth California US House Rep. to announce retirement.
Far-left Politico reported:
Rep. Alan Lowenthal will not run for reelection, adding to a generational changing of the guard in California politics.
The Long Beach Democrat said in a statement that he would not seek a sixth term in Congress, choosing instead to “pass the baton” and spend time with family.
The impact: Lowenthal’s current seat is safely Democratic and will likely remain so even under new lines, though the latest iteration from the state’s independent redistricting commission eliminated one Southern California seat to account for slower population growth.
The 80-year-old Lowenthal is the fourth California House incumbent this year to announce he will not be running in 2022. Rep. Jackie Speier is not seeking reelection, Rep. Karen Bass is running for mayor of Los Angeles and Rep. Devin Nunes will resign at the end of this year to run former President Donald Trump’s new media company.
A couple weeks ago Oregon Democrat Rep. Peter DeFazio, the House Transportation Chair, announced he is retiring shortly after New York Rep. said he will be leaving his seat.
Why would anybody in their right mind confide in an 80 yr. old man or woman to look out for their individual welfare in ANY situation? Don’t you know past 65 you lose the competetive spark and fire to commit to ANY crusade bad or good??? My God!, has everybody turned into a zombie permanently programmed to bitch instead of act?? If YOU DON’T vote this residual slime OUT OF OFFICE, then you’ve witnessed the decay in government and the effect, yet you DON’T want to band together and correct it. What pertinet information could the old fossils in the House and Senate other than a historic rendition of jibberish like Bidumb, offer to the good/evil of any legislation??? If you let them still control the USA AFTER 2022 let me know how that works out for you!! The longer I live, the dumber peoples actions get. By God, is there NO common sense left??
