Don’y worry about local influence. If it’s real cash, the merchants will take it. I am sure that the Town’s “diversity committee” (joke) will ensure that everyone is treated equally.
Be careful driving. There is a lot of unexpected traffic in OC from all the members of their diversity committee (everything in that town takes a committee) to weigh in for a Council Member’s perhaps racist social comments. This may even draw the attention of their diversity caucus (they don’t have one of them either).
Unfortunately, the Town is just another “last one standing” entity.
You really do need to think a little when you look over just how the Town spreads “diversity”. Aside from the expected areas such as cleaning the restrooms, collecting garbage, driving a bus.
a. Isn’t the Town Government and management all white?
b. Beyond 1 or 2 cops, aren’t they all white? How many are management?
c. How many FULL TIME bus drivers are NOT white? There may be a single token seasonal POC supervisor that is a POC, but that’s about it.
d. How many OC Communications workers are NOT female but ALSO white?
RESIDENTS can vote in OC but not property owners. Minority residents don’t exist. They are bussed in from Pocomoke and other places to fill the “servant” jobs.
Now, to be fair, the merchants in the hospitality industry do hire minorities (they are cheaper) as well as white as long as they work for as for the cheaper rate. It’s the same for the foreign visa workers (cheaper) in addition to providing tax incentives to hire them from the Government as well as cash payment to the employers who manage that program.
So….. now, we have “special events” where local Governments “tax” the people that bring the business to town with inflated fines but still have no body cameras.
