ATLANTA — Just weeks into the school year, over 23,000 students and staff are in quarantine at metro Atlanta schools.
Those numbers are just a fraction of how many students are likely quarantined: Only a select few districts release quarantine numbers.
The data includes positive cases as well as students/staff in quarantine. Each district has its own quarantine protocols, so the numbers are fluid.
Of those districts that do report quarantined students and staff, Fulton County Schools are reporting 6,233 students who are either quarantined or have tested positive. Gwinnett County, the largest school district in the state, has 2,337 students and staff in quarantine. Atlanta Public Schools has 2,035 students and staff in quarantine.
Parents should be prepared for another shutdown at any time. Not what anyone wants to hear right now, but better to be ready.
