City leaders will announce mask or vaccine requirements for Philadelphia businesses and large outdoor non-seated events on Wednesday, a city official with knowledge of internal health policy discussions confirmed with NBC10.
The following COVID restrictions will be announced by city leaders, according to two sources:
- A mask mandate or proof of vaccination for customers and employees inside Philadelphia businesses, which will be effective Wednesday.
- All city employees will either need to be vaccinated or double masked by September 1.
- Any outdoor non-seated event with more than 1,000 attendees must require masks.
The mask mandate for large outdoor gatherings won’t include seated events such as baseball games, according to the source.

I was just there the Restaurants will comply any way they can to expand indoor service and keep all the shacks and shanties they have in the parking spaces and alleys . The homeless sleep in them night LOL the whole thing is quite surreal . The majority of people there are wearing masks routinely and compliantly on the streets you get the occasional stink eye from grunting groaning pro wrestler chastising from some anti mask anti vax fringe fat head but they collectively get put in their place. It has been a very bizarre and divisional year and half. I’m just thankful I have been able to work and travel regionally for my accounts. I peddle implants for hips and knees and spend a lot of time scrubbed in OR’s and at first the systems were preparing all the elective preoperative and postoperative care bays to be COVID wards. As soon as they realized that was not happening they ramped up rapid testing and stocked up on N95 masks and it was back to production as usual. Hospitals really are Factory’s even the nonprofit teaching and research institutions and the newest facilities are laid out like meat slaughtering round houses. That’s why many of them were ill prepared for this crisis and the worst COVID victims have wound up in ill funded and ill prepared facilities . Just don’t get it is all I can say. You don’t want to wind up in any Hospital they are filthy and if COVID does not kill you the ramped MRSA and CDIFF that no one talks about in these places will get you.
Why wait…just do it…4-8 weeks numbers down then repeat the media frenzy in prep.for the holidays. Need narrative and if numbers are good the media will flock to the airports to show holiday traffic then scream of a turkey and ham shortage.
