Proposal would ban certain riders from using Metro Transit

A plan to temporarily ban anyone arrested on Metro for a sex offense or weapons charge is facing criticism from the ACLU.

Metro Police say there has been an increase in sex offenses. For example, 89 incidents of indecent exposure were reported in the first six months of this year–more than double the number during the same period in 2019. Now, Metro Police want the power to ban passengers who are suspected of sex crimes for up to a year.

  1. Will they make them wear a Scarlet letter? Since most probably already are carrying a quart or more of tattoo ink, that’s not the answer.

The idea of banning the wankers and illegal weapons carriers has merit but since they probably only were thrown off the Metro they probably were never prosecuted or convicted. But if DC could find the backbone and guts to prosecute violators, and if judges were to sentence them to a year and a day that must be served. the same result could be achieved. And it would be a real disincentive to most of the perps.

  2. It is getting so a guy can’t take a leak off the platform or get a sexual favor from a girl in the subway without someone complaining. This isn’t fair to me or my buddies.

  3. Who thinks up these ridiculous and hard to enforce ideas? Not to mention the “board” that agrees to this. HAHAHAHA Stay on your side of the bridge – don’t come to the shore!
