Everybody knows the name “Michael Avenatti” for a couple of reasons, but mainly because he represented porn star Stormy Daniels after she claimed to have had an affair with Donald Trump.
However, over the years Avenatti has proven to be a “good” Democrat (and even considered running for president in 2020). He has been indicted numerous times in multiple states for tax evasion. He even accused then-SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh of spiking drinks back in college (as if he knew the truth).
In summation: Avenatti isn’t exactly a great guy. On Thursday afternoon, the disgraced lawyer was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for extortion.

While crying, Michael said: “When I was a child I dreamed about becoming a lawyer – Fighting for the little guy against the Goliaths. For years I did just that, but then I lost my way. I betrayed my own values, my friends, my family, and myself. I betrayed my profession. I’ve learned that all the fame, notoriety, and money in the world is meaningless.
Avenatti's legal issues are far from over.
He still faces a host of tax and bank charges in California. His trial is set to begin next week in federal court. And next year Avenatti returns to New York for a federal trial on charges that he embezzled money from Stormy Daniels.
