‘This Is the Wild West Again’: The Border Crisis Is Putting Northern Los Angeles County Residents In Danger

Being followed when they leave the house. Being shown pictures of a bullet-ridden truck with a person still inside. Encountering aggressive drivers on roads. Having illegal grow houses next door. Having water stolen from their farms. These are some of the examples of what northern Los Angeles County residents say they have experienced by the people who are running illegal marijuana farms.

The residents, close to a dozen, gathered on Tuesday to share their stories and to hear an update on law enforcement taking action against the drug-growing operations. They all wanted to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation from the cartels.

Rep. Mike Garcia (R-CA) and Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told the meeting when they each did an air tour of the areas in north L.A. County, they realized it was as bad as what they had been told. The problem has been persistent for a while, but it gained major steam within the last year.

“We did a survey way back in 2020, during the [COVID-19] pandemic…150 illegal grows, the ones you can count easily from the air. So when we did it again this year, that number grew to 500 in one year.

So there was a noticeable shift in acceleration,” Villanueva explained, adding the illegal dispensaries are outnumbering the legal businesses 50-1.

With the massive number of illegal farms, their biggest issue is the same as anyone who lives in the desert climate: water. Each plant requires three gallons of water per day, leading the cartels to steal water from residents and farms.

  1. This has been discussed previously but the “A” word is in play for the next 3-1/2 years.

    A = amnesty

Don’t laugh or shrug shoulders negatively. The party of NO is in charge and their tune is now YES.

  2. The cartels have a strong foothold in America and soon the politicians will do what the cartels tell them to do. The alternative to say no to the cartels will be messy, painful and deadly to all family members.

  3. So? They vote for democrats they deserve to live with the fear that their children will be murdered. And if someone they know is murdered oh well They deserve that too. Same with the inner cities waste products They vote democrat they deserver to bury their children The black on black genocide going on in the cities is wonderful to read about They vote stupidly they deserve all they are getting

  4. 3 gallons of water a day?? TOTAL BS.

And there wouldn’t be so many illegal grow houses if the government didn’t treat marijuana as the golden cash cow.
What government backed growers sell pot for is off the charts crazy.
Because our “leaders” are so desperate for cash, even getting into the drug dealing business (or at least, as the Mafia does, get their “cut”) is a viable solution (not controlling spending, of course).
The pot available on the street is just as good as, if not better, than what is sold with government approval, only about 80% cheaper.
And no street dealer has your SSN, your DOB, your medical history on file, and doesn’t report everything to everyone with a computer.
The government F’s up EVERYTHING they get involved with. EVERYTHING.
Hell, we are trying socialism again. Not because it never works, but because our “leaders” just think that only THEY know how to make it work correctly.
They can’t hear you complain for two reasons.
    1) cheerleaders are drowning out your voice, and,
    2) it’s kinda hard to hear you way down there (on your knees, scared to death).

    Keep cheering.
