A Baltimore County based consulting firm said that it was working with the owner of the collapsed Florida condominium on a long-term restoration plan just before the building collapsed.
The Champlain Towers South Condominium partially collapsed in the early morning hours of June 25, 2021. An arduous search for survivors has been going on ever since.
In a statement, Morabito Consultants says that the company was called in to prepare a plan for the Southside, Florida condo in 2018. The company said it completed the report on the buildin in October of 2018.
At that time, we also provided the condominium association with an estimate of the probable costs to make the extensive and necessary repairs. Among other things, our report detailed significant cracks and breaks in the concrete, which required repairs to ensure the safety of the residents and the public.
Morabito says some repair work was underway when the building collapsed.
At the time of the building collapse, roof repairs were underway, but concrete restoration had not yet begun.
Tis the beginning of long term and costly expenditures for this economy.
Damn.
