Maryland District Court chief judge bans ‘thin blue line’ masks over bias concerns

A Maryland district court judge on Wednesday banned all court employees including clerks, bailiffs and judges from donning face masks that depict the “thin blue line.”

Chief Judge John P. Morrissey said in an email announcing the ban that the masks and other apparel with the symbol created “an issue of perceived bias,” according to the Baltimore Sun.

Morrissey’s order will apply to all staff at 34 district court sites statewide, but will not affect people who are courthouse visitors.

  1. The good judge apparently does not know the meaning or reason for the thin blue line. To mention a bias or even worse, blm has not a damn thing to do with it. This dummy has no business wearing a robe. If he thinks like some of his quotes, he doesn’t understand he is supposed to be the thin blue line. What a ignorant state employee.

    1. In reply to you, sir, I think that the black, white and blue or red “american-looking “flags” should be banned as well. My flag is the red, white and blue one that has flown over our UNITED States for 245+ years, and if police and firemen want to consider themselves not a part of our UNITED States, there starts the division which sparks the flames of b l m and antifa type groups, IMHO. I think the Judge has a good point in keeping division between police and the Citizenry out of the Courthouse especially. I do respect your service in your line of work just as I would hope you should respect your roofers and plumbers that serve you in your times of need. We’re all Americans together and should all settle on one single flag. Drawing a thin blue line between us is just another divisive sign to me.

      1. 7:32 am… The blue line is only a line showing good and bad. Nothing to divide or any division. It What it shows has already happen. Either you are law abiding or you are a law offender. You must be on the fence.

        1. Sorry, 9 am, but the “thin blue line” I have always been told is reserved only for LEO’s and not us “commoners”. I’m not on any fence as I stated in my comment that I respect what they do for a living. Your ignorant comment calls all plumbers and roofers possible criminals. I hope that fence you’re sitting on goes right up your arse!
