A new foundation launched Monday with the goal of solving a longstanding lack on investment in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, which have recently faced a growing number of racist attacks.
The Asian American Foundation (TAAF) said it has already raised $125 million among its board members to support Asian American and Pacific Island organizations and causes. The foundation described the initial funding as the “largest philanthropic commitment in history by Asian Americans fully focused on supporting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.”
Several major companies including Coca-Cola, Walmart, Amazon and the National Basketball Association have contributed another $125 million.
The foundation said it plans to use the initial investment to focus on three areas: research, education and supporting groups who are working to combat violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
Here’s one campaign that shouldn’t feature very many white faces in its advertising.
I support my local island business – No1!
Nuff said!
I got a pretty good idea who is doing it and it’s not the kkk.
We don’t mind Asians. They work and are not criminals.
Better cut Harvard’s funding because they’re big on Asian hate.
I’m outraged that no NFL team drafted a player from a HACU (Historically Asian College and University).
Crystal clear evidence of bias by black and white NFL coaches, owners and general managers.
Funny you mention this – now the HBCU (historically black colleges/universities) have hit the media stating they had no representation in the recent draft. (total of 259 players drafted)
Although, many players from HBCUs were signed the very next day via free agency. Suppose that just aint good enough???
Deion Sanders is leading the complaining charge.
eh hem.
Wow, will they be called racists when they find out that the blacks are committing all the hate crimes against Jews and Asians?
