Corporal Keith Heacook’s 12-year old son Matthew threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Softball tournament organizer Philip Cooper of Mission 22 – Delmar, says he believes the first tournament Saturday is a success.
“Just within the first hour this morning we raised $3,000.
Cooper says Matthew Heacook is “one special kid”. “To go through what he’s going through right now, I couldn’t imagine.
En route to the softball tournament from Millsboro, Delaware were hundreds of Jeeps from clubs all across Delmarva and elsewhere. President of the Southern Jeep Club, Mark Belfiore, organized the convoy. At first, he was expecting around 180 Jeeps. On Facebook, Belfiore wrote, “Amazing event $7,720 raised and 260 Jeeps supporting the event.”
All money raised this weekend will go towards a trust and education fund for Matthew Heacook.
Organizers of the softball tournament say another event is “in the works” for the Franklins; the elderly couple who also were allegedly attacked by Wilkerson on Sunday.
I know it’s the way it is supposed to be written, until found guilty. But, it piss’s me to see allegedly when it is known without a doubt. I realize it will continue like this and I will continue to be pissed. I will also continue to look for the day the attacker gets brutal payback. Prayers always to the Heacook Family and the Franklins. 🙏
don’t worry about it. The presumption of innocence is exclusive to the court room. The court of public opinion can voice what they think and anyone who doesn’t like it Too Bad.
There needs to be some accountability for having only one cop working and sent into an ambush alone … if not for the media’s fake coverage of our police he may have shot and killed the racist before anything worse happened but police have no time to react so they don’t out of lies reported by the media and this happens . Revenge against the media
