Illinois public employees and retirees with $100,000+ paychecks grew from 109,881 (2019) to an all-time high of 122,258 in 2020 – costing taxpayers $15.8 billion.
Congressional “bailouts” made it possible. The recent $1.9 trillion American Rescue Act provided an additional $13.5 billion to Illinois state and local governments. (Look up your hometown here — $350 billion flowed to states and 30,000 communities.)
Auditors at OpenTheBooks.com compiled the list of six-figure earners from Freedom of Information Act requests.
Disgraceful how these public employees rape and pillage the people they work for.
Where There Is Dollars There Is Corruption ! Always Has , Always Will Be !
747pm not ALL gov’t employees are what you stated. A small %. Challenge here is generational change. Baby-boomers hesitated with retirement plans based on the economy. Thats why so many gray beards are in the fed/state/local govt workforce. Thats why so many payrolls are very high. Challenge will be future replenishment. Younger and cheaper sometimes is NOT the answer. I can see gray beards retiring but coming back for several years to help the transition.
Payroll in OC always comes out in the local (free) newspaper. Very interesting to see all the gray beards making above $85K. To include LEOs with all their OT too. Lots of $$$$$ just for payroll/benefits.
