‘CANCEL RENT’ CHEERLEADER AYANNA PRESSLEY (D) MADE THOUSANDS OFF RENTAL

The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that ‘Squad’ leader Ayanna Pressley (D., Mass.) who has pleaded for the cancellation of rent, has in fact been collecting rent on her rental properties, according to the newspaper.

“Cancel rent. Send recurring cash survival checks. This is literally a matter of life and death,” Pressley tweeted December 7, 2020.

The Beacon reports that the Congresswoman and her husband collected $15,000 in rental income on a Massachusetts property in 2019. It’s unclear whether she collected rent during the COVID pandemic when she was calling for rents to be canceled.

“Even if Pressley waived rent when the pandemic hit, she could recoup the lost income through a bill she cosponsored with fellow progressive representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.). The Squad members introduced the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act in both 2020 and 2021, which would require the federal government to reimburse landlords for lost rent for the duration of the pandemic,” Beacon reporter Collin Anderson wrote.

Pressley railed on about rent even before COVID, saying in January 2020 that housing is “more than a commodity. It is a basic necessity. It is a human right.”

Meanwhile, as the Beacon points out, Pressley was renting out a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house for $2,300/month in 2019. Surely there are a bunch of struggling people in society who can afford that price.
