In Brief: Why I’ve Stopped Watching Sports

Like millions of other Americans tired of “woke” politics infecting everything, Candace Owens has given up on sports.

She recounts what it used to be like gathering with family, friends, and neighbors to unite around common heroes and teams. It was an escape from the struggles of life. No more.

Sports. That used to be a nice thing. It united us. In those moments nobody cared about anything else. That’s why athletes seemed larger than life. Because they had the unique ability to unite the country, unite the world. …

It’s different now though. Sure, athletes are still athletes. They are still performing incredible feats and breaking records, but it’s different. We all feel it. Now, it seems like athletes want to become great for the express purpose of patronizing regular people.

  1. I went to London to watch the Ravens play the Jaguars a few years ago and to my dismay the Ravens took a knee for the National Anthem. I was mortified and devastated and haven’t watched a Ravens game since. I’ve been a college basketball fan for over 50 years and watched teams take a knee for the National Anthem this year in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. I was happy to see that the 3 teams that disrespected their country lost in the first round. Growing up in the Baltimore area I have been an Orioles fan for over 60 years. Recently the Oriole organization has determined that fair elections are a bad thing that is supported by racists. Watching these sports over the years has brought me much joy, but now they are stealing my joy and leaving me with only 1 alternative. I salute you Candace and I join you in your decision to being an ex fan. The next time my family has our day at the ballpark [which consists of 30-40 people] I’ll be firing up the grill while they’re at the ballpark for the after ballgame get together. I’m done with the Terps, the Ravens and the Orioles and the leagues they are associated with.

  2. Systematic racism in sports have discriminated against White athletes for many decades all the way down to the high school level but nobody wants to talk about that

  3. Sports should not be political so I quit watching. attending or buy memorabilia years ago. I get on DISH 500 the LONGHORN channels and it is a lot more enjoyable.

  4. Don’t give up on sports, there are still plenty of local little league teams out there with kids who love this country. Go cheer them on!
