Will Smith moving production of new film out of Georgia over election law

Will Smith says he’s moving production of his latest thriller — in which he stars as a runaway slave — out of Georgia over the passage of a Republican-backed election law in the state.

“At this moment in time, the Nation is coming to terms with its history and is attempting to eliminate vestiges of institutional racism to achieve true racial justice,” Smith and director Antoine Fuqua said in a joint statement through his media company on Monday.

“We cannot in good conscience provide economic support to a government that enacts regressive voting laws that are designed to restrict voter access,” the pair said.

“Regrettably, we feel compelled to move our film production work from Georgia to another state,” Smith and Fuqua said.

Last month, director James Mangold vowed not to direct a film in Georgia after Kemp signed the law.

  1. So, they are actually going to negatively impact the citizens that live there by moving the associated cash-flow elsewhere…

    Pretty stupid!

They should stick to movies – their politics are lousy!

  2. He, his wife, and his daughter sleep with other women. His wife, son, and daughter have both expressed suicidal tendencies. He hasn’t had a good movie since Independence Day, and his scenes haven’t aged well and are nearly unwatchable. He should get his own house in order.

  3. Well that’s really nice
And we can also not view any of his films too
It goes both ways you know
Kind of just like all the sports these days

  4. Will Smith better just keep on moving right out of the country! At least Tyler Perry has his big multimillion studio in Atlanta, GA that will continue to support the State of Georgia with his monies earned!

  5. Will Smith who? Over rated actor and yesterdays another burned out actor that should just sit down and don’t have an opinion.
