President Trump earned support from across the political aisle as Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) introduced a bill Wednesday seeking to codify his executive order slashing the price of prescription drugs.
The President signed the order earlier this week, seeking to prevent pharmaceutical manufacturers from charging Americans high drug prices while giving steep discounts to other wealthy nations.
It is designed to “bring the prices Americans and taxpayers pay for prescription drugs in line with those paid by similar nations.”
Khanna, in a series of social media posts, said he supported Trump’s order and would introduce it “exactly as written as legislation to be bipartisan [and] get something done for the American people.”
He did just that earlier today.
“I rise today to introduce as legislation, President Trump’s executive order for the most favored nation status on drug pricing,” Khanna announced on the House floor. “My legislation will codify President Trump’s executive order, which basically says that Americans should not pay more for drugs than people in other countries and other parts of the world.”
