Maryland lawmakers consider bill to require newly built homes be fully electric

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The ‘Better Buildings Act’ would require new buildings constructed in Maryland to be completely electric.

“We can’t just sit around waiting for things to get easier. We have to act now and act boldly,” said Senator Benjamin Brooks a Democrat from Baltimore County.

The bill requires buildings to be constructed to be able to power everything necessary to live without the use of fossil fuels.

It also requires solar hook ups on new buildings for when the state may require them later.

“Why would we continue to build buildings that are not electric? It makes no sense,” said Delegate Lorig Charkoudian, a Democrat from Montgomery County.

Opponents of the bill have said Maryland’s electric grid wouldn’t be able to handle the increased demand.

  1. If Sanator Benjamin Brooks sincerely wants “things to get easier” as he states, then he and every Democrat currently serving in MD should resign immediately. That will greatly benefit Marylanders.

  2. If you think electric bills are high…just wait until all of the EV mandates kick in and stupid shit like this continues to be pushed when no one but the people getting kickbacks want.

Hopefully Trump and Congress get something through to prevent this crap from happening.

  3. It still confounds me how these activists get elected…not by people on the Eastern Shore. No No No to all electric homes, cars etc. I want choices. I want oil and propane. Please people in MD fight this. Our elected Republicans should fight this very hard. It also goes against the federal policies! Do they pay electric bills our are theirs free? What the heck?

  4. If you don’t want government telling you what you can and cannot do, then by all means do not vote for the democrats.
