A Viewer Writes: Maryland Governor Wes Moore Shifting Costs to Counties from the State Maryland Republican Party

Via the Maryland Republican Party:
In his FY26 Budget, Wes Moore wants to pass over $144 million in state expenses down to county governments so that he doesn’t have to pay them.  Now those counties will have to make cuts of their own, or raise taxes to cover these unforeseen expenses, so that Moore can save face.
This is not a fiscally responsible budget, the Governor is just passing the buck.  See how much state expense has been shifted to your county government:
Allegany: $1.39 Million
Anne Arundel: $14.04 Million
Baltimore City: $12.58 Million

  1. Why is so much money being wasted on the civic center, shore bird stadium, zoo. The civic center has no good entertainment just dog shows, yard sales, bingo. The stadium is only open 5 months out of the year. The Salisbury Zoo is not good half the animals are gone. Seems to me all the high ups running these places are getting the money in their own pockets.

  2. Well look forward to Barry and Julie and friends removing the revenue cap and can we please not have to look at Bill Chambers arrogant face. Wicomico County can look forward to furloughs and lay offs and possible some county departments closed and replaced by contractors at big savings.

  3. This Cheshire Cat grinning POS has got to go!!!!!!!!! Can’t he be impeached? He’s the worst thing that could have happened to this state.

  4. under this moron maryland is looking at a $3 billion deficit. wait until all those federal workers in the dc suburbs of maryland have to sell and move. all the lost tax revenue form lost jobs, property taxes will blow an even bigger hole in marylands tax base. what’s your plan moron? more grift?

  5. It’s true – the following people and groups are planning to remove the revenue cap so that more funding can be moved into certain contractors hands. Julie, Delmarva Conservative Movement, Greater Salisbury Committee, Mike Dunn, Gillis and certain other contracting businesses. Hold onto your wallets taxpayers. You are about to get hit again.

    1. As I said before, if my taxes become so expensive that I can’t afford to keep my property that has been in our family for more than one hundred years, there will be hell to pay.

  6. With the Revenue Cap in place this should result in equivalent cuts across the county.
My understanding is that the Revenue Cap was put in place by referendum and can only be removed by the same vehicle. As long as the taxpayers stick together and vote against it, we will be safe!
