77% of Americans favor voter ID, 60% say policy is not discriminatory: poll

ARasmussen Reports poll released Monday found that 77% of Americans favor requiring voter ID and 60% believe the practice is not discriminatory.

Those 77% of U.S. likely voters said that requiring photo ID to vote is a reasonable measure to protect the election integrity, an increase from 74% in 2021. Only 17% of likely voters disagreed.

Broken down by demographics, 88% of black voters favor voter ID, compared to 77% of Hispanics, and 81% of other, non-white voters. Meanwhile, 59% of blacks say voter ID is not discriminatory, as well as 62% of Hispanics, and 57% of other, non-white voters.

The survey was conducted of 1,229 likely voters over Jan. 26-28, with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
