Although schools will be closed tomorrow, January 8th, 2025, we want to remind you that the government building will be open for normal business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Our convenience centers and ferries will also be operating as usual.
A special THANK YOU goes out to our Public Works Department and County Roads teams for their tireless work over the past 36 hours clearing the roads after the recent snowstorm. As of 2:00 PM today, here’s the impressive work they’ve completed:
❄️ 1,432 plow miles cleared in the Wicomico Road Inventory
? 53 vehicle operators behind the wheel of 43 vehicles (commercial-weight and light trucks)
? 78 tons of salt dispensed
?️ 4,000 miles driven to clear the snow
⛽ 600 gallons of fuel consumed
❄️ 7.5 inches of snow accumulated (compared to 1.4 inches in 2024 and 0.5 inches in 2019)
?️ The last time we saw 7.5 inches was in 2009!
Let’s also take a moment to recognize that the average longevity of a Public Works Equipment operator is less than 6 years. Thank you to all those who keep our roads safe and clear!
Stay safe, and we’ll see you at the government building tomorrow!
