Are The Local Salisbury Maryland McDonald’s Crazy?

Since when is it okay to place your order and then hear, “would you like us to round it up to the nearest dollar”. You have to wonder, who’s pocketing the change? Is this a new McDonald’s policy? Is it even legal?

I’d like to hear from the franchise owner on this matter.

  1. At participating McDonald’s restaurants, you can “Round-up” your order to the nearest dollar and help support families at RMHC Maryland. You can give a small donation right when you place your order. Here’s how you can donate: At a Front Counter or Pay Window: Ask a Crew Member to “Round-Up” your order.
How much of donations actually go to Ronald McDonald’s house?
80 cents of every dollar spent by RMHC Global supported RMHC programs. The Anand Family finds respite and a quiet place away from medical space in a Ronald McDonald Family Room in Cleveland, Ohio.
    Is Ronald McDonald’s charity real?
RMHC serves millions of children and their families each year, but more need our help. Yet, simply because we don’t have enough sleeping rooms around the world, 138,000+ families are turned away each year. Your donation can help us to expand to fulfill the needs of more sick children and their families.

    1. No one said anything about making a donation to anything. They simply said do you want to round up to the nearest dollar.

      1. Go back, ask a manager your question, THEN, report back. This is not something a kid should be should be permitted to spread.

        1. With all due respect, I rarely EVER go to McDonald’s. That being said, I’ll not go back again. I do not need to hear from any manager as to why they are doing what they are doing. I have a local business and I would NEVER ask a customer if they’d like to round their purchase to the next dollar. In fact I believe that would be and likely is illegal.

  2. If you pay attention to sales slips you will find that several local stores do the same thing without asking . Next time your sale is in even dollars., look at your ticket to see who the change is donated to . I don’t really object to it …

  3. I think there is a sign at the window that explains what its for. If not the employee should have explained it better. It is legit though. They asked me one time if I wanted to round up, and its was only 13 cents. I don’t have a problem with it, and you can just say no. Its been going on for a long time, but it seems most employees don’t do it.

  4. McDonald’s food has gone to Hell, it’s expensive and the quality has hit the bottom. Nothing is good there anymore except McFlurries and the are way overpriced.

  5. It has to be legal. Choptank electric Coop has been doing it for years. Most all customers round up but you can opt out if you desire. I personally opped out. Everything costs too much anyway so I’m not rounding up for anything.

  6. acme does same thing. Shame on these corporations, I’m sure they get something out of this, otherwise why do it? surely it’s not out of generosity! if that were the case, why not donate from the profits they make selling their garbage!

  7. They should build a McDonalds right where the Wicomico County Library is after they tear it down! It would actually work better there than what the City of Salisbury has done already! 😜
