In true Donald Trump fashion, the President-elect has delivered a Christmas statement that is equal parts festive and ferocious.
The message, posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, left no one unscathed.
Trump began by addressing the “wonderful soldiers of China” who, according to him, are “lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal.”
Trump reminded Americans of the sacrifices made during the canal’s construction over a century ago and lambasted the billions in U.S. taxpayer dollars spent on repairs without any authority over its operations.
The president then turned his sights to Canada, taking a swipe at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Referring to Trudeau as “Governor Justin Trudeau,”
Trump said that if Canada joined the U.S. as the 51st state, Canadian citizens would see their taxes slashed by 60% and their businesses flourish.
Not even Greenland escaped Trump’s rhetoric. Reviving his interest in acquiring the island, he claimed its strategic importance to U.S. national security and vowed that “we will” secure its allegiance. It was vintage Trump—bold, brash, and entirely unpredictable.
