ANNAPOLIS, MD – Today, Governor Wes Moore announced that state agencies and offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, 2024 in observance of Christmas Eve. State employees are granted the day off, and the day will be treated like any other state employee holiday.
“Our state employees have worked tirelessly all year long ensuring that Maryland is safer, more affordable, more competitive and the state that serves,” said Gov. Wes Moore. “We hope that all of our incredible public servants across the state can take a much-needed day to be with their loved ones this holiday season.”
He copied the federal government. This guy doesn’t have an original thought in his head.
More gifts that buy votes and waste money!
Total violation of first amendment separation of church and state. Unconstitutional!
Dear 7:34 ( Mr. Scrooge I presume),
No, declaring a federal holiday is not a violation. Declaring it mandatory to celebrate is.
Consider the following from Federal Judge Deloitte based on a Jewish man attempting to prove a Christmas holiday is a violation,
“ The Court will address plaintiff’s seasonal confusion
erroneously believing Christmas merely a religious intuition.
Whatever the reason constitutional or other,
Christmas is not an act of Big Brother!
Christmas is about joy and giving and sharing,
it is about the child within us, it is most about caring!
One is never jailed for not having a tree,
for not going to church, for not spreading glee!
The Court will uphold seemingly contradictory causes,
*826 decreeing “the establishment” and “Santa” both worthwhile “Claus(es)!“
We are all better for Santa, the Easter bunny too,
and maybe the great pumpkin, to name just a few!
An extra day off is hardly high treason.
It may be spent as you wish, regardless of reason.
The Court having read the lessons of “Lynch”
refuses to play the role of the Grinch!
There is room in this country and in all our hearts too,
for different convictions and a day off too!”
To summarize, you can worship (or choose not to and go bowling instead), and that is the crux of the argument.
Regards,
