A Viewer Writes: Veterans Hit Again

I would like to know if any Veterans have experienced what I am about to describe. Whenever I have been prescribed a doctor’s prescription it was sent to Apple Discount Drugs in Fruitland Maryland. The last time a prescription was sent, about a month ago, I received  mail stating that Apple would no longer be accepting military TriCare Medical Insurance. When I inquired about how this can happen, I was told that the company that does the audit for the pharmacy said that they (Apple) were not getting sufficient funding back from the government to cover expenses. After time, veterans pretty much get used to being crapped on by government bureaucracy. Time after time I have seen military members slowly lose their earned benefits with nothing being done to undo the damage. I’d just like to know if any Wicomico Veterans are experiencing the same problem. I’ve contacted Congressman Andy Harris about this and encourage any others who have experienced this to do that also. Please, write about your experiences to let others know what is happening and contact your Senators and Congressman and perhaps something will happen.

  1. Express scripts, the pharmacy benefits manager to veterans, sent a letter to all Tricare for Life members that Apple Discount Drugs would no longer be available to veterans. Said that Acme, CVS, and Walgreens would honor prescriptions. This is disappointing as we had used Apple for many years. Hope that it changes and we would be able to return to Apple.

  2. I must be one of the few Veterans that has not had any issues with VA prescriptions or services. I speak highly of the care and services provided by the VA. I have always had great services from them.

  3. Why are pharmacies no longer accepting TRICARE?
As of Oct. 24, there were 14,963 independent pharmacies that left the Tricare retail pharmacy network — primarily due to their objections about low reimbursement rates — out of 55,586 retail pharmacies in the network. The loss affects an estimated 400,000 Tricare beneficiaries.
Apple Drug became one of the ones that have left the TRICARE network
There are 47 pharmacy location within a 31 miles of zip code 21801 that accept TRICARE.

  4. You can thank Biden for this cluster phuck.
Kamala was the deciding vote forcing this into law.

Several of my medications are not covered thru any of the drug plans so I have to pay cash.
Manufacturers now have a limitation that if you are on a drug plan, even if your medication is not covered you can not use good rx coupons for a discount
Good rx blames the manufacturer, the manufacturer blames the government and most pharmacy’s dont have a clue.
Plus more and more medications are now classified as tier 3-5 meaning that you have to pay retail up to 590$ before the plan kicks in.
Anything paid out of pocket due to not being covered by the plan does not count toward the deductible or 2000$ out of pocket limit.
