On Thursday, November 21st, I was walking through the furniture section of Boscov’s and I noticed a senior gentleman sitting back on a new sofa. I asked if he was just enjoying relaxing on the new sofa. He replied that he was buying the sofa and a loveseat and was just waiting for the salesman to get back with him. So I asked where the salesman was. He said that he was at a luncheon upstairs but would be back at 1:30 but that he was late.
I couldn’t believe it. Here we have a customer buying a sofa and loveseat for over a thousand dollars and the salesman tells him to wait until he’s done with lunch. Is there something wrong here or is this what we should expect in today’s society.
After I had shopped around awhile I again went past that area in furniture. That gentleman was still sitting on his new sofa that he was trying to buy. I hope someone in management reads this article and takes some corrective action.
Why is this any of your business? Evidently, the customer was not upset so why should you be? Oh, wait a minute. . . . are you a liberal or maybe even a progressive?
Maybe you have never worked in retail. When I was 8 months pregnant I was cussed out by an old man because my boss had shut my line down to allow me a bathroom break. The guy came to the line after it was closed and the light was switched off. I had been waiting for 30 minutes to go. If they didn’t allow me a break then I wouldn’t have gotten one. You do know that labor laws allow people to take lunches and breaks, right? Maybe he was there all day and this was the first opportunity to go. What would you like management to do? hire more people? or fire the guy?
Be angry at the people sitting home living off the government dime, not the guy trying to earn living. The audacity of him, expecting a lunch break!
