The Delmarva Peninsula is made up of 14 Counties, across 3 different States; Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
____________________________________________________________ In Virginia the 2 Counties: Accomack & Northampton both do not have an elected Executive. So 100% of the Counties do not have an elected Executive In Maryland the 9 Counties. Cecil & Wicomico have an elected Executive. Dorchester, Worcester, Talbot, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, & Caroline do not have an elected Executive. So 77% of the Counties do not have an elected Executive. In Delaware the 3 Counties: New Castle has an elected Executive. Kent & Sussex do not have an elected Executive. So 66% of the Counties do not have an elected Executive.
_________________________________________________________ So of the 14 Counties that make up the Delmarva Peninsula, 11 of them do not have an elected Executive currently or 78%. So should Question A pass, all Wicomico would be doing is returning to a form of Government that 78% of its neighboring Counties already have in place. Including the 3 Counties where Wicomico’s US Congressman & 2 State Senator’s currently live; Dorchester, Worcester, & Talbot. So the notions that Question A is “Unconstitutional” or the “Sky Will Fall” should Question A pass in Wicomico County is just utter nonsense.
It was instituted as a form of checks and balances – similar to the federal government…which actually works!
In our case, we elected crooked Executives and re-elected crooked Council-Members.
Term limits and let’s try again with a fresh batch of crooks!
Here in Sussex County, with a population more than double that of Wicomico County, we’re doing well with NO elected County Executive. A County Administrator hired by the County Council works well for us.
3:18 But do you have a John Cannon?
good for you delaware, unfortunately we here in wicomico must have a lot more crooks running for office! the council screwed us many years ago. told us this was the way to go so they could escape the fire they started themselves! now they want someone beholden to them!
We do not need a county executive!
