They Want You Demoralized

There are 71 days left until Election Day. After weathering their own (self-inflicted) kick in the teeth compliments of President Joe Biden’s horrible debate performance on June 27, the subsequent meltdown over the state of his physical and mental health, and the stunning failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13 leading right into the Republican National Convention, the Democrats seemingly were floundering.

And then, the clouds parted, and out came their very own ray of sunshine: Vice President Kamala Harris. Never mind that her approval ratings to that point were lower than those of her feeble boss. Never mind that up until the moment Biden hurriedly endorsed her to replace him on the Democratic presidential ticket — in what appeared to be an afterthought following his weird Sunday “I’m bowing out” announcement on X — the flurry of “What ifs?” and “Who shoulds?” centered on anyone other than her.

No, once the Dems settled on Kamala as the cure to what ailed them and set about burnishing her image and reimagining her as a star — a tough, can-do, yet joyful prosecutor, ready to right the ship (on which she’s been serving as first mate for three-and-a-half years) — unburdened by what has (or hasn’t) been in her vice presidential tenure, they were all-in. Last week’s DNClapalooza was a testament to the power of Democrat storytelling and Hollywood glitz.

And here at RedState, we covered it all for you. The running joke is that we watch these sorts of events so you don’t have to. But of course, whether you watched any of the DNC yourself, participated in our Thursday night live blog, or simply followed along in the articles, it likely grated on you to see the show they put on — built on a bunch of…well, we’ll call it phony baloney.

No doubt, the Dems were hoping that seeing all their joy and positive vibes and adoration for Kamala the Great would demoralize the right. They want you down. They want you out. They want you feeling like nothing you do will make a difference.
