School District Turns to Diesel After Attempt to Convert Bus Fleet to Electric Proves Disastrous

Affluent liberals will do nearly anything to parade their own perceived moral virtue, including fleecing their neighbors at gunpoint.

In the end, however, the only thing on parade is tragicomic liberalism.

On July 25, Megan Davey Limarzi, Inspector General of Montgomery County, Maryland, issued a blistering memorandum regarding her office’s (OIG) investigation into Montgomery County Public Schools’ catastrophic management of an electric bus contract, which has cost taxpayers millions and forced MCPS to rely on diesel buses.

The sad story began with the usual virtue signaling.

“On February 23, 2021, as part of its commitment to sustainability, MCPS announced it was replacing 326 diesel school buses with electric school buses,” Limarzi wrote.

That ambitious purchase came at a cost of $168,684,990.

According to 24/7 Wall St., Montgomery County ranks as the 3rd-wealthiest county in Maryland with a median household income of $125,583.

  1. Electric vehicles are the future, right? That’s what automakers, governments across the globe, and many a news site have been trumpeting for the past decade or so. But in 2024, the tone has changed. If you haven’t noticed, one automaker after the other has either been rolling back timelines or postponing plans indefinitely after the industry has seen a serious decline in demand in 2024. Many of these companies had previously pledged billions of dollars of US investment over the next few years, so for them to suddenly change trajectories like this is concerning on an industry level, and an economic level.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — The city of Asheville’s purchase of five electric buses in 2018 has turned into a multi-million-dollar loss. The buses have been broken or unable to run because of software and/or mechanical issues, making them an expensive and disappointing purchase, according to city maintenance and transportation staff.
And remember a while back that Montgomery County also wanted to or has banned the gas powered string trimmer and blowers.
The global warming scam has to stop. We are going to spend billions and billions of dollars fighting global warming when it has been shown that after all these efforts, global temperature will only fall by .01 degrees by 2134.

  2. Some kind of punishment must be delivered to megan davey limarzi and others like her that are making unqualified decisions and costing us tax payers millions of dollars. Ousting, funds replacement, heavy heavy fines, and even prison terms is not too much punishment for such behavior.

  3. Reading the article, I do not see who the maker / makers of these busses is.
Why not put the name of the bus manufacture out there for everyone to see ?
Yup, a $200 million dollar boondoggle.

      1. Some of the stupidest people I know are “educated”. A few letters and periods behind your name does not make you smart-just brainwashed and arrogant.

        1. Absolutely John Doe – Just take a look at the fine, ‘educated’ folks in Slow Hill and the boondoggle they saddled the rest of us with that river boat deal. Proof positive that those degrees from SU don’t mean much when you have nothing of value between your ears.

      2. It’s not about hating the educated people. It’s about hating the educated people that absolutely have no common sense. ” I am smarter than thee, so you must listen to me ” type of people.

  4. Montgomery County’s average income is overwhelmingly provided by government jobs, indicating that too many people are paid too much.
