  1. Thankful for sunshine again. Been wet for over a week, hotels have been vacant, but all the high rises have been packed. Many cheaper to rent than a week for a hotel. Hmmmm, an empty room makes no money and no tax receipts.

Heard month of June was no different than may. Down by 20% in the hospitality industry. Nothing will or can be done. Fiscal year ended 30 June, so the new year (new money) started 1 July with an ok 4th. So I’m sure it will be spun as suckcessful. Last Friday nite was a rain bust so minimal revenue intake at the boardwalk.

3 maybe 4 full weeks left until grade schoolers AND college kids head back to school. Another family friendly failure.

The Whiskers to Leon’s pub rainbow experiment in north OC is over. Mexican joint (Cha Cha’ something) will open soon. Thankfully backside on the beach never got going either. Believe OC said loud and clear, there is a place and state for all of that….Delaware!

Bourbon and lots of Assawoman Bay shellfish this weekend.

  2. Every time someone asks me what I’m doing on the weekend I feel like they are expecting some grand response. My husband and I are both young and don’t have a ton of money and are mostly home bodies. We just relax on the weekends, watch shows, read books, do our hobbies, take a walk. Most people consider this as “nothing” because we’re not going out and bar hopping or to concerts or eating out or doing something that costs money. And don’t get me wrong, we do plan fun outings every once and awhile or fun with friends and family (maybe one weekend a month), but I honestly just enjoy relaxing and don’t understand why people kind of look down on this. When we’ve told our plans to family and friends it’s always “oh well maybe you can do something fun next weekend” or “is everything ok?” This is our fun people! Why can’t relaxing, not spending money, and being at home be a normalized acceptable answer to “what are you doing this weekend”?
