This is happening all over the Eastern Shore and is the reason those elected to represent us, actually represent the State. As the higher powers dangle grants that follow the state’s agenda and not what makes the best sense for the towns that receive them.
A few examples: #1 Somerset bike trail – $4 million when there was already a bike lane along 413. The bike trail plantings and yard works are an underkept eyesore.
#2 Crisfield Armory – has received $1.25 million with another grant application for $250,000 in the works – the building continues to have a mold problem and the City of Crisfield has no budgeted amounts to cover operating expenses when, if ever, it is available for use.
Anybody else notice how “free money” begets even MORE non-profit?
