America’s #1 Most Dangerous Small Town is in Maryland.

When it comes to crime rates, Maryland is often associated with the high-crime city of Baltimore. However, a small town in Cecil County, Elkton, has earned the dubious distinction of being the most dangerous small town in America. With a population of just over 15,000, Elkton’s crime rate is a staggering 60 per 1,000 residents, making it one of the highest in the country.

Crime Rate and Statistics

Elkton’s crime rate is a significant concern, with a total crime rate that is 224% above the national average. The town’s violent crime rate is particularly alarming, with a rate of 7.10 per 1,000 residents, and a property crime rate of 52.91 per 1,000 residents. In 2019, there were 151 violent crimes reported in Elkton, including 101 aggravated assaults, 39 robberies, and 11 rapes. The town’s property crime rate is also extremely high, with a rate of 53 per 1,000 residents, making it one of the highest in the nation.
