The Wicomico County Executive was joined by the Director of Administration, Bunky Luffman, the Deputy Director of Administration, Matt Leitzel, Delegate Carl Anderton, Senator Marybeth Carozza, and local business owner Alex Scott in Annapolis to witness the bill signing of HB 1340 by Governor Wes Moore.
HB 1340 is an important bill as it repeals the liquor monopoly here in Wicomico County allowing the local bar and restaurant owners the ability to purchase their spirits from their distributor of choice. The liquor dispensaries will stay in place and operate as usual for the general public.
We thank everyone for their support and we look forward to July 1 as we take that huge step to a more business friendly county.
Until they repeal the special alcohol tax, the individual sales here on the eastern shore will continue to happen in tax-free Delaware!
Wholesalers inDE will now get a boost as vendors attempt to tell the Governor to repeal this tax – and lower the regular sales tax as well!
Translation…..Julie simply signed a bill that gives about 5 of her big campaign contributors….Peter Roskovich, Mike Bazard and the Knorr Family a ton of extra money….Good old boy network continues…
