Award-Winning Journalist Who Worked with NPR for 25 Years Breaks Silence About Publicly-Funded Network’s Major Bias

A senior business editor at National Public Radio believes the organization has lost the plot.

Uri Berliner has been with NPR for 25 years. He recently wrote an article for The Free Press in which he explains how in recent years, diversity of thought has been shunned in favor of what many would consider leftist media narratives.

NPR has always been a left-wing radio station, but as Berliner notes, in 2011, “Twenty-six percent of listeners described themselves as conservative, 23 percent as middle of the road, and 37 percent as liberal.”

Much had changed by 2023 and NPR’s audience skewed even further left.

“By 2023, the picture was completely different: only 11 percent described themselves as very or somewhat conservative, 21 percent as middle of the road, and 67 percent of listeners said they were very or somewhat liberal.”

  1. Salisbury University’s NPR station, WSCL 89.5 and 91.3 are having their fundraiser right now. We cannot get the RINOS to defund NPR but we can do everything we can to defund the member stations.

During this and next week- call WSCL 89.5 and clearly but dispassionately explain your displeasure with National Public Radio. Then callboth Salisbury University and UMES and tell them both about your displeasure. If you used to donate, make sure they know why you will no longer send them money. Both univeristies need to divest themselves of this clearly one sided propaganda tool. If you used to donate to SU- make sure they know that you will never donate to SU so long as they host NPR on their radio stations.

I for one love classical music on 89.5. But I will never donate so long as my dollars fund the left wing NPR.

  2. If NPR and PBS want to stay alive, have them sell advertising like all the other radio and tv stations.
Donation from the public might be fine but the federal, state and local governments needs to stay out of the broadcasting business. We don’t need or want a state run radio and tv stations. Think North Korea, Russia and most other communist counties.
