What Idiot Came Up With The Idea Of Turning The Ward Museum Into A State Park?

A petition drive has been started to turn the former, run down, dilapidated, neglected facility to be turned into Wicomico County’s first state park. For starters, I’m sure most of you could come up with several other really cool locations that could be considered for a state park, (not that with horrible economy we should be encouraging anything of the sort).

There’s mention of this location being right next to the Salisbury Zoo, a facility that is 95% in a flood plain zone, they lost their accreditation and 90% of their normal animal inventory and that facility has been severely neglected and needs to be turned into a botanical garden sponsored by loval landscaping companies that can not only maintain the property but can also market their abilities and skills at no cost to the taxpayers. Oh, I’m sorry, I like to think out of the box and that doesn’t work for all the Good Ol’ Boys here on the shore.

Nevertheless, I just wanted to puke when I heard about this Ward Museum petition. Stop the cancer that continues to kill Salisbury. Downtown businesses are leaving in droves but local media wants to keep publishing how yet another couple of people believe they can save the Downtown, BS! What Idiot came up with the idea to remove/sell/wholesale  the parking lots Downtown and even add more apartments and condos? Was that Ireton or Day, I don’t recall. Both Liberal Idiots anyway! And they wonder why the Downtown is dead.

The other day I bought out an estate near Downtown. This massive and beautiful home was sold at a loss and it sold for $365,000.00. It’s residential and the new out of state owner plans to turn it into an Antique store in a residential area. I buy and sell a lot of homes and if this particular home was in Berlin it would’ve sold for close to a million dollars, that’s how nice it is. Pretty sad the difference 20 miles makes.

Anyhow, the State Park idea is a joke, Salisbury is a joke and hopefully the new Mayor Randy Taylor visits with the leaders in Berlin and starts a new trend in the same direction because the lipstick on the pig decade after decade clearly isn’t working. Then again the Governor is yet another libtard who loves throwing money away. If I was Governor I’d respond to that petition by saying, sorry, we have a new bridge to build that actually goes somewhere and serves a real purpose to the taxpayers. Excuse me Lt. Governor but remind me where this Salisbury Maryland is again…

  1. The Ward Foundation can’t afford it (and doesn’t deserve it.) The city can neither afford it nor come up with a good public use to justify ownership. The university has no interest, nor does the county. Who is left?

The state. It could be a wetlands museum and learning center, it being located on a protected wetland. The University of Maryland could share some space for its pond and enviro study programs, along with providing educational opportunities for locals. Maintenance would be by state park standards, with no gaps in interior or exterior upkeep. Opportunities for mutually offered community engagement and support would be a must.

Whatever is decided, please don’t let it become a dentist office, a church, or another bad restaurant.

    1. Seriously, the zoo should be a park.
Get rid of the animals and make it a park.

      It’s an animal death trap.

      1. I am honestly surprised it’s not a homeless camp. And I am not being mean. There is certainly sufficient room, benches and a path near the pond, and wooded areas for privacy.
Cops ran the off the vacant right aid parking lot.

    2. Just another P.R. stunt for Steve Miller to mumble his circle talk and beg the council for more money. You already have the most expensive toilet and ashtray on the county coffers and that is The Wicomico County tourism center on Rt 13 north. These politicians and department heads are just concerned with “THE Opening” and the hell with the upkeep and the money it will cost to maintain in the future.

    3. They cannot even pick the trash up at Harmon pickle and basketball courts. Around the trash cans was badly littered and under the bleachers too on Friday.
