Tesla Model 3 Owner Dismayed After Car Died on Highway

A Tesla Model 3 owner in North Carolina says he is done driving his electric car after it suddenly stopped working in the middle of a highway, leaving him stranded and terrified. James Hanna, who had bought the Tesla in 2021, says he was on his way to pick up his son from school in September when the car locked up and died, with no warning or explanation.

As reported by Business Insider on Saturday, January 27, 2024, Hanna says he was driving on Interstate 77 at about 40 mph when the car beeped for a few seconds and then came to a complete halt. He says he could not steer, brake, or shift gears, and that the hazard lights did not work.

He also says he could not get back into the car after he got out, because the battery that powered the doors was dead. He says he had a panic attack and called the police and a tow truck for help.
