The TRUE cost of dying in America: Fascinating study shows the most expensive states to hold a funeral

Hawaii has been ranked as the most expensive state to hold a funeral, with grieving families expected to pay $15,203 on average, according to a new study.

Researchers said the high price of land in the Aloha state is a ‘massive contributor’ to its funeral costs, along with above-average living costs across the board.

The findings from online pharmacy Now Patient lay bare the rising cost of dying in the United States.

California came in as the second most expensive place to hold a funeral, with ceremonies costing $10,727 on average.

It was followed by Oregon, New York, and Massachusetts where funerals cost $10,424, $10,355 and $10,270 on average.
