Just around midnight Eastern time, the Hamas terrorists elected to control the Gaza Strip launched their barbaric invasion of Israel, with at least 2,200 rockets fired, thousands injured, and likely at least hundreds killed.
By Saturday morning, Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy all took to Twitter to eviscerate the infiltration and reassert Israel’s unequivocal right to defend itself. On Truth Social, as did Donald Trump, who correctly blasted the Biden administration for sending $6 million to Iran, the preeminent financial backer of Hamas, and failing to capitalize on the success of the Abraham Accords.
Conspicuously absent from the world stage is Joe Biden, who has not shown his face when the planet is watching.
At 9:39 a.m. ET, the White House Press Office said that senior national security officials briefed Biden, and that “the President will continue to receive updates and White House officials remain in close contact with Israeli partners.”
In a since-deleted tweet, the United States Office of Palestinian Affairs wrote that the White House urges “all sides to refrain from violence and retaliatory attacks,” as “terror and violence solve nothing.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he spoke on the phone with Biden, whom he says expressed his support for Israel’s right to defend itself, but it took until 11:06 a.m. ET, a full 12 hours after the attack, for Biden to issue a milquetoast statement that he and the First Lady are “heartbroken” and “tracking this situation closely.”
Where the hell is the ostensible leader of the free world?
The White House Press Office called a lid — that’s a close for the president’s official events and workday, in journalistic jargon — at 1:22 p.m. on Friday, and contrary to most weekends when he vacations in his Delaware manors, Biden is actually staying at the White House this weekend. But nearly a full 24 hours have passed since that lid was called, and Biden, the actual man theoretically in charge, hasn’t shown his face or cut a video. Just one statement issued to the press office and tweeted from the presidential account, not his personal one.
