The Moore-Miller Administration’s Statement Regarding the Court’s Ruling on Senate Bill 1

ANNAPOLIS, MD — The Moore-Miller Administration released the following statement regarding court’s ruling on Senate Bill 1:

“Today the court upheld many of Senate Bill 1’s common sense reforms that Governor Moore has advocated for in order to make communities in Maryland safer from the gun violence epidemic that has plagued this state for far too long.

The governor is committed to working vigorously with the state legislature, community leaders, and all advocates to continue to bring down the scourge of gun violence this state as seen.

As a father, and as the chief executive of this state, this is an issue that is of the utmost importance to the governor and he will continue to fight for the necessary measures to protect Maryland’s children and make this state safer for everyone.”

  1. Penalizing law abiding CCW Permit holders will do absolutely nothing in preventing shootings and murders by the uncivilized animals that have zero respect for life.

  2. Complete crap sandwich. The State has the resources to clearly gather and catalog most firearms deaths.

We know intuitively that almost all of these deaths are committed by people who are not licensed to carry, or to carry concealed. We suspect most killers are not legally firearms owners. Likewise many/most news reports of arrests state the arrested person was ineligible to possess a firearm by virtue of previous convictions.

If Moore was at all interested in stopping gun violence he would have supported legislation that really pinches those illegally in possession of firearms. Most of the deaths occur in a fairly narrow age band in a fairly concise part of the state. A high percentage of victims and their killers are too young to own firearms, let alone bother with the cumbersome purchase regulations.

More restrictions on law-abiding citizens while letting the lawless run free. He should have added to his bromide about being a father that he has 24/7 protection by gun carrying security. Too bad we all can’t be governor. Hypocrite!

  3. I seriously doubt that there has been even one murder by a licensed permit holder. The state knows the facts but refuse to acknowledge reality. They had rather go after good honest people than real criminals. Sad but true. It really makes one think about moving to a more conservative state.

  4. what part of shall not be infringed do these idiots not understand. does a convicted felon give up their right to free speech? assembly? worship? these laws are made to make you submit to their tyranny!
