Biden Calling LL Cool J ‘Boy’ Isn’t Going Over Well With Black Americans

The fallout from President Joe Biden’s latest racially insensitive gaffe continues as he is coming under fire for referring to rapper LL Cool J as “boy” during a speech in front of the Congressional Black Caucus. Regular black Americans and even a popular radio host blasted the president for the comment and referred to the history behind how the term was used to demean black men.

This development couldn’t have come at a worse time for President Biden, who is rapidly losing support among the black electorate.

“Two of the great artists of our time represented the groundbreaking legacy of hip hop in America. LL J Cool J, uhhh…” Biden said during his speech. “By the way, that boy’s got – that man’s got – biceps bigger than my thighs.”

  1. Must disagree with commenters above.

On the surface, it’s a neutral word identifying a young male. And sometimes used to refer to males in a general, informal sense. That said, it carries baggage when used to refer to a black male, especially by a white person. Biden has a track record of callous commentary, and by now we know what linguistic filter he used to have is badly frayed if not completely broken.

For context, he was speaking to the congressional Black Caucus, an all black group with the most race centric agenda in the Congress. Incredible gaffe, which he tried to cover with his spiel about biceps and thighs.

Those in attendance should be shaking their heads at what their party leader thinks and says. The rest of us should be lowering ours in shame that someone like him is in the White House.
