The Republican won a close GOP gubernatorial primary with the support of former President Donald Trump in 2022. Outgoing Republican Gov. Larry Hogan had opposed his candidacy, contending that he would cost the party the governor’s mansion.
Former Maryland Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Cox will run for Congress to fill the seat of Democratic Rep. David Trone in 2024.
Cox filed the paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Monday, The Hill reported. Trone, for his part, is running for Senate to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin. At least one state Democrat, Del. Joe Vogel, has announced his intent to seek the party nomination to succeed Trone.

Hogan’s concerns came to fruition when Cox decisively lost the general election in the traditionally deep blue state.
Cox previously ran for Congress in 2016, losing that bid to Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin. The 8th district, which includes much of Maryland’s D.C. suburbs, is considerably more Democratic than the 6th district in which Cox will mount his current bid.
Hogan helped fulfil that prophecy by endorsing the Mooron – who has restarted the work to destroy the state!
Shame on you Larry Hogan!
Bigger picture – Dan Cox probably can’t win the Senate seat for some of the same reasons he didn’t win the governorship – too many people hate President Trump more than they love our country!
Nobody will win a REPUBLICAN position when EX-GOVENOR COMRADE HOGAN who professed / professes to be a REPUBLICAN constantly coitizes you and pushes for a DEMON DEMOCRAT.
Three points:
He’s running for an open seat where the incumbent Democrat plans to run for a Senate seat being vacated. So the advantage of incumbency won’t be there for his opponent even though there will be more Dems registered. So the Dems will be fighting each other thru the primary.
Second, the district he’s running in has a better registration balance, and by election time we’ve had 3 1/2 years of Bidenomics and 1 1/2 years of Mooreon in Annapolis.
He probably won’t have to contend with backstabbing from quisling Harry Logan since that ego-maniac now fancies himself as a player on the national stage.

Hopefully he has a chance to win, but these republican rinos in this state don’t back him. People better stop with this hatred for Trump and try bring back this country. I voted for Trump back in 2016, 2020, and I’ll vote for him again. He’s the only only one that can fix this mess that these moron democrats and rinos have done to this country.
