SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico Recreation & Parks will host its first Great American Day Out on Saturday, June 24 at Pemberton Historical Park.
Based on National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Campout, Great American Day Out centers around environmental education and learning how to camp responsibly.
The event is free to attend and all ages are welcome to participate.
Various activities are scheduled throughout the event, which runs from 12-8 p.m. Sessions include:
- Leave No Trace Activity
- Weather / Water Cycle / The Incredible Journey Activity
- Campfire Cooking 101
- Goat Yoga
- GPS Tracking Activity
- Hiking 101
- Traveling Turtles / Reptile Program
- Build-A-Better Fish Craft
- Historical Hike
- Guided Hike and Fishing Demonstration
- Owl Pellet Dissection
- Owl Prowl Hike
“Great American Day Out is an opportunity for people to learn and engage with nature while having fun,” said Program Director of Environmental Education Fallon Jackson. “We look forward to teaching camping safety and connecting with the community.”
Local environmental agencies and food vendors will be on site throughout the event.
